TNS-NET 900
Network for TNS HC-16, TNS XT and TNS AT, successor to TNS-NET. According to English terminology, it is probably a plagiarism of some Western product, according to the catalog org. in practice from 1989 it is RPTI ("RPTI-LAN", but it could be "RPTI Trans-Net").
Hardware development for TNS-NET 900 and ZNET cards (FELAN) took place at Tesla Elstroj.
Tree topology, coaxial cable 50 Ohm max 500m, CSMA/CD, speed 900kbit/s, Manchester encoding, total max. 32 knots.
For the TNS-AT, there was a TNS-LAN-AT card using the Intel P8274 (Multi-protocol serial controller, implementing SDLC), just like the "network card" in the TNS HC-16.
CONTENTS OF THE DISTRIBUTION DISKETTE
The disk on which the software for the TNS-NET 900 network is loaded contains the following files:
- ATTN.EXE Program for sending messages to network participants.
- COMSPOOL.COM Program redirects data from parallel to serial port.
- CONNECT.EXE Program for connecting a shared remote directory or printer.
- FSVR.EXE Program installing the station as a file-server.
- GETTIMER.EXE A program that sets the date and time according to the time-server in the network.
- INTIMER.EXE Program installing the station as a time-server.
- NET.EXE The program that starts the main menu of the network.
- NETFILE.EXE Program for closing open files on the file-server station.
- NETSAVE.EXE Program for saving the network configuration.
- NETVER.EXE Program displaying the version of the network operating system.
- NOS.DRV Driver for TNS-NET 900 adapter
- SHDIR.EXE Program for sharing directories on the disk of the file-server station.
- SPL.COM Installer for print-spooler.
- SIGNON.EXE Network login program
- SPL.COM Installer for print spooler
- SPL.SEP Simple example file "separator
- SPLER.COM Program setting the job termination mode for the print spooler
- SPLSTAT.EXE Program for manipulating the print queue.
The minimum hardware requirements for each computer in the TNS-NET network are
- 128 kR of internal RAM (256 kB for a diskless station using remote booting of the operating system).
- at least one disk or AUTOBOOT ROM for remote booting of the operating system.
- If the AUTOBOOT ROM is used on the network, the boot-server must be running on the network.
The program prerequisites for the operation of the TNS-NET network are:
- operating system MS-DOS/PC-DOS version 3.1 and higher
- network operating system TNS-NOS.
