1. Introduction

Bootmanager is program which allow you to use, install and manage more operating systems on a single PC box. There are many bootmanagers which allows you to do this, but they cannot do some things which my program can. The primary design goals of MBTMGR are speed, small size, full customisation and ability to boot everything :-). This program is not for computer beginners. You must have at least basic knowledge about operating systems, disks and system. If you are beginner please ask your friend to install this program.

1.1 History of this program

History of this program began in December 1996. I had DOS, Linux and OS/2. I used OS/2 boot manager to boot DOS and OS/2 and LILO to boot Linux. This case is common and enough for many users. But I wanted more. So I began development of this program. First usable version was finished on February 97. This version was able to boot some operating systems from primary partitions. I gave this program to my friends and they installed it on their computers. They also told me a lot of useful informations - and I implemented some of them. I also created a webpage for MBTMGR so anybody can download this program from the Internet.

1.2 License

MBTMGR MAY BE FREELY DISTRIBUTED AND USED IN NON-COMMERCIAL ENVIRONMENT AS LONG AS NO FILES ARE REMOVED OR MODIFIED IN ANY WAY, AND AS LONG AS NO MONEY OR ANY OTHER COMPENSATION IS ASKED OR ACCEPTED FOR THIS PACKAGE WITHOUT PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION FROM THE AUTHOR. THE PROGRAM IS PROVIDED "AS IS", WITHOUT WARRANTY OR GUARANTEE OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED, AS TO THE QUALITY OR PERFORMANCE OF THIS PROGRAM. Note: This is not final version of this program. I will accept registration from commercial users only for final version. There is no official technical support for this program. Do you know any *FREE* program with support? But you can join [email protected] mailing list and ask there. I post MBTMGR announcements to this mailing list, so join it now. Send e-mail to [email protected] with text (IN BODY!) "subscribe OS" (without quotes).

1.4 Czech documentation

Original Czech documentation is obsolete now. I don't update it because of lack of time. You should prefer this (english) documentation. Czech documentation is still available here. It will be removed in some next future version.
